Impelsys Inc., a market pioneer in digital publishing, EdTech (Education Technology) and healthcare solutions has today announced a collaborative partnership with Digital Science, a leader in scholarly technology.  The partnership will include the integration of Altmetric and Dimensions badges with its flagship journal distribution platform, iPC Scholar, and also provide the option for authors to upload data to Figshare.

With this new partnership, the 2.0 version of iPC Scholar will provide researchers additional insights into the attention that each piece of research receives immediately following its publication.  Now journal publishers can acquire deeper understanding on how users interact with their content and drive traffic with engaging content that can be easily discovered.

A valuable addition to the measurement of research dissemination and influence, the Altmetric and Dimensions badges, offer an at-a-glance summary of online engagement and citation data for published papers hosted on the iPC Sholar platform. The Altmetric Badge will track more than 2000 media outlets in over 30 languages, social networks, public policy documents, post-publication peer-review forums, online reference managers, blogs, and Wikipedia. Dimensions Badges provide a real-time and easy-to-digest snapshot of a publication’s citation history revealing where the citations have come from, how the citations are mapped over time, and what research categories are citing a piece of content.

The alliance will also see iPC Scholar 2.0 offer Figshare to its customers, enabling researchers to preserve and share their research outputs, including figures, datasets, images and videos. Figshare will allow publishers to upload any file format to be previewed in a browser so that any research output, from posters and presentations to datasets and codes, can be disseminated efficiently and effectively.

Sameer Shariff, Founder and CEO at Impelsys, said: “The scholarly landscape is becoming increasingly open and connected. We are committed to ensuring that our publishers can benefit from this evolving ecosystem. We are delighted to partner with Digital Science, which allows us to extend their powerful technologies and services to publishers hosted on our IPC Scholar platform.”

Adrian Stanley, Managing Director, Publishers  at Digital Science, commented: “Impelsys allows for easy implementation of both our tools and products that will have a positive impact on the research community. We look forward to the broader use of our tools and insights, particularly in some of the developing markets Impelsys work in.”
