The next evolutions in research data sharing and scholarly discovery come together to support Russian Science

Digital Science announced today an agreement that will provide researchers and students from the University Consortium of the South of Russia access to two products aimed to transform the way their researchers manage, search and analyze research, and to support student education through access to both Dimensions and a pilot project with Figshare.

Dimensions is a research information platform that connects over 140 million research documents including publications, grants, patents, clinical trials and policy documents. In addition to the enriched Dimensions data, users will also have access to Figshare, a repository where they can make all of their research outputs available in a citable, shareable and discoverable manner. These products combined will offer a seamless way to organize research as well as powerful search, visualizations and reporting functionality to track funding trends, compare performance and research outcomes, and inform strategic planning.

Igor Osipov, VP, Academic & Government EMEA, and CEO of Digital Science in Russia/CIS, commented, “The Southern Federal University and our partners from the Consortium are building an infrastructure that connects education, fundamental research, and innovation into an integrated digital environment, which brings strategic results. Many colleagues at the University Consortium of the South of Russia actively participated in the development program for Dimensions and continue to work with us to extend Dimensions’ capabilities.”

Inna Shevchenko, Acting Rector of Southern Federal University, leading institution of the consortium said: “Modern digital platforms nowadays are not just research analytics systems, but an effective tool for increasing the research efficiency. Access for the University Consortium of the South of Russia to modern digital platforms such as Dimensions or Figshare significantly expands the capabilities of the regional and Russian digital support environment for research and higher education — both researchers and students — and allows us to visualize the scientific landscape at a new level.”

“The combination of Figshare and Dimensions creates a platform for a research interaction across the globe on a level playing field,” adds Daniel Hook, CEO of Digital Science. “With access to Dimensions and Figshare, leaders, scientists and students will be able to gather a much more complete picture of the research landscape in order to achieve their goals many times more efficient and quicker. We are proud and delighted to partner with these prestigious and innovative institutions to support their efforts in research and education across Russia.”
