With the ongoing transformation of the research landscape in the US, research security has become key to fostering innovation, building resilience and upholding integrity. However, challenges such as resource constraints, fragmented systems and evolving risks leave some institutions vulnerable.

This webinar, held in partnership between Times Higher Education and Digital Science, will feature leading voices across the US who will share their strategies for advancing research security. The panellists will present examples of successful research security measures at their institutions and explore the future of secure and ethical research practices. Topics for discussion will include:

Speakers

Dr. Tanta Myles, Associate Vice President for Research, Georgia Institute of Technology

Dr. Tanta Myles is Associate Vice President for Research – Research Integrity Assurance at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she leads institutional efforts in research compliance and integrity. With over 20 years of experience in research administration, Dr. Myles brings deep expertise in strategic operations, regulatory policy, and federal collaboration.

She currently serves as Senior Editor of NCURA Magazine and has held numerous leadership roles within NCURA, including Immediate Past-Chair of Region III, contributing editor, and Peer Reviewer. Her national service also includes work with COGR, SRAI, FDP and other research-focused organizations. Dr. Myles has published extensively and facilitated more than 35 sessions at national conferences, consistently bridging policy and practice to empower research professionals across the country.

Heidi Becker, Product Manager, Digital Science 

Heidi Becker is the Product Manager for Dimensions Research Security.  Since 2019, Heidi has worked closely with both academic and government partners on how to best leverage Dimensions for research security.  She spearheaded the development of the Dimensions Research Security dashboard, which is now used by both government agencies and academic institutions in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada and Australia.  She came to Digital Science with a background in planning and evaluation for a major private science funder, in addition to many years in state government.
